Sharing great venues is something we love doing. Venues have different characteristics: whether it is the ambience, the location, or the building. One venue I recently visited for a meeting was the Army and Navy Club, in Pall Mall, otherwise known as “The Rag”. Fortunately I had my camera at hand, so I could get some shots of the different rooms in this excellent venue.
The venue is situated on Pall Mall and some of the rooms have stunning views over this elegant road. One of the features of this venue is that there are a number of different rooms available, and they all have unique characters. The actual venue was rebuilt in the 1960s, and some of the fittings were included in the new building. Above is the wonderful main dining room. This is perfect for a wedding and there is a wedding license arranged for this room. There is sufficient room for a dance area if you want to arrange a DJ or a band. I asked about sound levels. The upper floors of the club include rooms where members can stay overnight, so it is important to be aware they shouldn’t be disturbed at night. There is no current ruling for sound but we agreed that there should be an unofficial decibel limit and timings.
The room above is a smaller room, with a completely different character. The antique portraits on the walls, as well as the wood panelling give it a different atmosphere, and it would be wonderful for a formal dinner, or drinks reception.
I really LOVE this room; the airy atmosphere and the colour scheme is stunning. Sadly I’ve just redecorated my house, but I would certainly choose this colour scheme in future. It is the ladies’ room and is a tranquil place for lady members to escape and read or do some work. It is also available to hire; it has a wedding license and it would be perfect for a smaller wedding; drinks reception or product launch.
This is the library. It is often hired for book launches and product launches. It is a lovely room.
Now: this is the most wonderful place: there is a restaurant on the top floor, which is gorgeous BUT also a terrace with seating outside. I understand it can be hired for summer parties – including barbecues. However, the most exciting thing about dining at this venue is that the chef ran a Michelin starred restaurant. The quality of his food is of the highest quality. I must get there!
